Mitel Pricing Structure Update

On Monday, August 17, 2020, Mitel will consolidate all existing price groups into eleven (11) new Material Price Groups (MPGs) and issue a revised price list.  As soon as Mitel releases the revised price list, CorsPro will distribute a Mitel content update that incorporates the new pricing structure and price list.

Architect Managers should instruct users not to quote Mitel solutions in SDA until the new SDA update has been downloaded by them, which can be confirmed if the SDA version is 20.080 or greater and the Mitel content is shown as “up-to-date” via Add-Ins >> Help >> Show software versions.

Architect Managers (AMs) are responsible for communicating instructions regarding updating existing Mitel quotes to their users.  See below FAQs for details on what AMs might communicate.

We will be creating new discount categories (which determine the net cost to the reseller based on Mitel’s discount to the reseller) and pricing categories (against which SDA users set discounts or markups to calculate customer sell pricing) as follows…

MPG Mitel MPG Name Description SDA DiscCat SDA PriceCat

Once we distribute the Mitel content update, all clients – with the exception of CAMs clients or clients with SUMIF issues (see first FAQ below) – will need to merge the update into your database and enter your specific discounts against each of the new discount categories (for example, enter your 1P discount against the MitelApps vendor discount category).  You might also want to adjust the ORDER of how the PriceCats and DiscCats appear on the Pricing tab.

Existing SDA quotes should be RE-QUOTED after the new pricing structure goes into effect.  Users should first run Update ALL tabs from database so that the new PriceCats/DiscCats are inserted into the Pricing tab.  Next, update the quote in Mitel’s CPQ tool, export the updated CPQ quote, then re-import it into the existing SDA quote.  In addition, users within clients with formula references to the previous PriceCats (see first FAQ below) will need to Replace ALL out-of-date tabs (using current user inputs) so that updated tabs with references to the new PriceCats can be inserted.  When doing so, users should double-check that all user inputs in the updated tabs are correct.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What can I do to prepare for the upcoming Mitel pricing structure change?

First, we recommend that you inform your customers and prospects that once the new pricing structure goes into effect, existing quotes will need to be RE-QUOTED.

Second, if your company has any SDA quote file formulas that reference PriceCat totals (MSRP, sell or cost) for the OLD Mitel PriceCats, those formulas will need to be updated to reference the NEW Mitel PriceCats.  We have conducted a review of all Mitel client setups and will be contacting the Architect Managers of clients who require formula updates.  To minimize disruption for you and your users, we are happy to make those formula changes on your behalf at no charge.

What will be the process for updating the pricing data for Mitel items?

If you are a CAMs client – whereby CorsPro acts as your Architect Manager – CorsPro will perform all required merge and update operations on your behalf.  For non-CAMs clients, CorsPro will push out a Mitel content update that will…

  1. Add the new DiscCats and PriceCats to the appropriate tables in the SDA database.
  2. Update the MSRP, DiscCats and PriceCats associated with all active Mitel parts that CorsPro maintains in the SDA database. Please note that CorsPro does NOT maintain all active Mitel parts in the SDA database.  We only maintain items requiring associated doc sections, ItemCats, labor hours or other engineering data.

Once the Mitel content has been downloaded, Architect Managers will need to…

  1. Merge the Mitel content update into your database by opening SDA (within Excel) and answering “Yes” when prompted to merge the updated Mitel content. IMPORTANT: for this particular update, please perform the merge via SDA within Excel, NOT Architect Manager.
  2. Open Architect Manager and go to Categories >> Vendor Discount Categories to enter the “US Reseller Discount/Markup” values (provided to you by Mitel) against each of the new discount categories. You should also modify the “Order” column so that the new DiscCats appear in the order that you desire at the bottom of the Pricing tab within SDA quote files.
  3. In the Architect Manager application, go to Categories >> Pricing Categories and sort the view by the Order column ascending.  The new Mitel categories should appear at the top, and the old categories at the bottom.
    1. If you utilized a “Cost” Basis for the old categories, you should set Basis = “Cost” for the new categories as well, making sure to enter a default markup into the “DefaultAdj” column.
    2. If you generate schedules of supported parts, you may need to adjust the “Support” column.  Previously, Mitel separated out hardware from software.  In the new structure, many categories now have a mix of both.  For the new structure, we are assuming that parts associated with all of the new Mitel categories – including mixed hardware/software categories – should appear on schedules of supported parts except for parts associated with the MitelSWA, MitelServices, MitelSubscription1, MitelSubscription2 and MitelMiCD categories.

How can I update pricing data for Mitel items that we (as the reseller) maintain in our SDA database but that CorsPro does not maintain?

CorsPro does not maintain all Mitel parts; we only maintain items requiring associated doc sections, ItemCats, labor hours or other engineering data.  You will need to review the list of Mitel items in your database that are not CorsPro-maintained and adjust them as required.  You can run a report of all items in your SDA database by opening Architect Manager and selecting Reports >> Parts Master >> Go.  All Mitel items with “Record Source” equal to “Mitel” are maintained by CorsPro, whereas Mitel items with “Record Source” equal to your client name are maintained by you.

How might this impact my SDA setup?

Mitel no longer categorizes parts into hardware versus non-hardware categories.  In the new structure, only ONE category, MitelDevices (3P), is pure hardware.  For SDA setups that calculate shipping or hardware maintenance based on hardware totals, those calculations will “break”.  We have analyzed all Mitel client setups and notified all Architect Managers who have these types of calculations in their setup.  Schedules of supported parts – which show customers the list of parts that will be supported in a support contract – will also be impacted.  By default, we are assuming that parts associated with all of the new Mitel categories should appear on schedules of supported parts except for parts associated with the MitelSWA, MitelServices, MitelSubscription1, MitelSubscription2 and MitelMiCD categories.  If your setup generates schedules of supported parts, we recommend that you double-check that these settings – which can be modified via the Pricing Categories dialog in the Architect Manager application – are appropriate for your setup.

How will the old Mitel PriceCats and DiscCats be retired?

We recommend keeping the old PriceCats and DiscCats active for a transition period to ensure that there are no remaining parts that are associated with the old PriceCats/DiscCats.  For example, you might have some Mitel parts in your inventory that are not on Mitel’s active price list that won’t be updated as part of the above-mentioned processes.  Once you are sure that there are no quotable parts in your database that are associated with the old PriceCats/DiscCats, you can retire them by setting the “Include” column in the PriceCat or DiscCat table to “N” via the Architect Manager application.

How should I handle quotes that were distributed to prospects and customers prior to the effective date of the new Mitel pricing structure?

Existing SDA quotes should be RE-QUOTED after the new pricing structure goes into effect.  Users should first run Update ALL tabs from database so that the new PriceCats/DiscCats are inserted into the Pricing tab.  Next, update the quote in Mitel’s CPQ tool, export the updated CPQ quote, then re-import it into the existing SDA quote.  In addition, users within clients with formula references to the previous PriceCats will need to Replace ALL out-of-date tabs (using current user inputs) so that updated tabs with references to the new PriceCats can be inserted.  When doing so, users should double-check that all user inputs in the updated tabs are correct.

Architect Managers (AMs) – whether CAMs clients or not – are responsible for communicating instructions regarding updating existing Mitel quotes to their users, including the need to update out-of-date tabs if there are any tabs in your setup that have updated PriceCat formula references.  We will reach out to all AMs with setups requiring PriceCat formula reference updates.
