Modeling Engineering Info Based on Another Part

The Engineering View also enables updating to engineering information (as well as associated documents and items) by modeling the part to be update based on another existing part. Often, the engineering information for new parts is the same (or almost the same) as an existing part.

To model the engineering information based on an existing part:

• Type the part number for the existing part into the search field and click the Search button (use the “*” character as a wildcard).
• Select the specific part number from the part number drop-down.
• Copy engineering information from the existing (source) part to the new (target) part by:
  • Click Copy Whole Record to copy over ALL of the fields from the source to the target record
  • or click on the “>” symbols to copy over information on a field-by-field basis.
